EQES BACKGROUND

Barry K Ewbank, Senior Quality Engineer
Barry Ewbank is an Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate (UMIST) with a total of 21 years quality engineering and manufacturing experience. This has encompassed CNC machining, tooling and pressure diecasting within automotive and general engineering companies.

1979 / 1989

Ten years with Lucas Engineering and Systems working in Advanced Manufacturing. Part of the initial team of 7 engineers who developed and ran the state of the art FMS machining facility in Telford which had the ability to run unmanned for limited periods on starter and alternator bracket manufacture.

1989 / 1999

Ten years in Aluminium Pressure Diecasting as Quality Engineering Manager and later as Quality Director manufacturing high volume automotive machined castings for OE (GM group) and Tier 1 suppliers - including Bosch, Valeo, Magneti Marelli and Hitachi. Developed the company’s quality systems and gained QS9000 approval in 1995.

EQES

Set up EQES in 1999 to support local engineering companies in their Quality Systems development towards ISO9001:2000 and shop floor engineering processes to improve awareness and efficiency. Now working with a core group of companies providing Quality System support, Auditing, CMM programming and AQP work to enhance their cost effectiveness counteracting the tendency for manufacturing to be sub-contracted outside the UK to perceived cheaper suppliers.
